A Work That Reflects Moco’s Vision

The artwork Vandalised Spot Painting (Banlofen) brings together two of the most influential artists of our time: Banksy and Damien Hirst. In this rare collaboration, Banksy’s signature rat appears on top of Hirst’s systematic spot painting, creating a work that holds multiple tensions in a single frame.

The piece explores the space between order and chaos, authority and resistance, market and subversion. Hirst’s precise dots represent the art establishment: controlled, valued, institutional. Banksy’s rat disrupts that surface with the energy of the street. Critique and conformity become inseparable.

Five Months Only in London

This exclusive showing at Moco Museum London runs from January 23 for five months only. The technique reveals a surface tension between Hirst’s gloss paint and Banksy’s spray paint. Precise geometry is disrupted by an unexpected figure. There is quiet humour in the act of vandalism: a rat, Banksy’s most persistent character, making itself at home on one of the art world’s most recognisable formats.

The work is a collision of two artistic philosophies: one that operates within the system and one that operates against it. Together, they create something that neither artist could have made alone.

Experience it in person at Moco Museum London. This is a limited engagement and one of the most significant works in Moco’s collection.
