Modern Art Museum in Barcelona

Experience the greatest names in modern and contemporary art at Moco Museum Barcelona. Located in the heart of El Born, discover works by Warhol, Basquiat, Kusama, and many more.

Moco Museum Barcelona brings world-class modern and contemporary art to the heart of El Born, one of Barcelona's most vibrant and historic neighborhoods. Housed in a beautifully restored 16th-century palace on Carrer de Montcada, the museum creates a stunning contrast between heritage architecture and cutting-edge art.

What distinguishes Moco Museum Barcelona from larger institutions is focus. Modern art is treated as a living conversation, not a historical record.

Modern Masters at Moco Museum Barcelona

The Modern Masters collection features iconic works by Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring, and Yayoi Kusama. These artists redefined what art could be, breaking boundaries between pop culture, street culture, and the traditional art world.

Each artist worked at the edge of a movement, challenging expectations and shaping what modern art could become. Their works reveal what modern art can be: emotional, critical, playful, and deeply human.

Contemporary Masters: Today's Icons

The Contemporary Masters collection showcases today's most influential artists, including Takashi Murakami, KAWS, and Banksy. Murakami's Superflat movement merges traditional Japanese art with anime and pop culture, while KAWS's iconic Companion figures bridge the gap between fine art and popular culture.

Beyond the permanent collection, Moco Barcelona regularly hosts temporary exhibitions by emerging and established artists, ensuring every visit offers something new.

Why Moco Is a Leading Modern Art Museum in Barcelona

Moco Museum offers a refreshing alternative to Barcelona's traditional art museums. While other institutions celebrate the old masters, Moco focuses on the art of now – challenging, provocative, and deeply human.

Visiting the MOCO Museum in Barcelona was one of the highlights of my trip. It’s a place where modern, contemporary, and digital art come together in the most dynamic way full of color, creativity, and unexpected emotions. The museum is located in the heart of El Born, inside a beautifully restored historic building that contrasts perfectly with the modern art inside. From the moment you enter, you feel the vibrant energy each room has its own mood, from powerful visual installations to immersive digital experiences.

I really recommend visiting the Moco Museum. I was astonished by the artworks there. I’m keen on contemporary art, so I was delighted to see works by Andy Warhol, Banksy, and others. The museum is very interactive, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the atmosphere. There’s also a special room with light installations it was incredible! Besides, they have an amazing gift shop with souvenirs at affordable prices.

This is a small collection, but the carefully chosen selection of great artists and pieces keeps a tourist, otherwise busy with all the city’s attractions, focused on the very best. Guillermo Lorca’s works are striking: fresh, imaginative, and captivating.

I had the amazing opportunity to visit it this week and it honestly left me speechless. As someone who deeply loves art, I was thrilled to see works by some of my favorite artists: Banksy, Yayoi Kusama, Andy Warhol, Keith Haring, and so many more! They’re also currently featuring a temporary exhibition of artworks by Robbie Williams. I was so surprised, he’s not only a talented singer, but also an incredible artist! Thank you, Moco Museum, for this unforgettable experience!
