Samuel Salcedo joins the collection at Moco Museum Barcelona.

A New Sculptural Voice

From January 15, 2026, Samuel Salcedo’s psychologically charged sculptures join the collection at Moco Museum Barcelona. His works are hyper-realistic yet emotionally exaggerated, featuring faces frozen mid-expression, enlarged and intensified to reveal the inner states we usually keep hidden.

Salcedo’s sculptures explore identity and emotion with a directness that is both unsettling and deeply human. Each face tells a story of vulnerability, tension, or quiet defiance. The work is part of Moco’s ongoing contemporary programme, which brings new voices into dialogue with established artists.

Encountering Art Outdoors in the Museum Patio

The sculptures are installed in the museum patio, where they are experienced with natural light, the surrounding architecture, and the atmosphere of El Born. Salcedo was born in Barcelona, adding a local voice alongside the museum’s international names.

This is not a large-scale exhibition, but a meaningful arrival. The sculptures reward close attention and invite visitors to pause, look, and recognise something of themselves in Salcedo’s unflinching gaze.
